If you are in any way serious about truly learning to love your body, you absolutely MUST improve the quality of the information you allow into your thought field.
Most of the information we get about our bodies comes from advertising and the media. Most of it is completely dollar-motivated, even when it’s wrapped up in health messages by very skillful and even-smarter marketers. To be able to spot the truth you must educate yourself. I will be reviewing the books that I consider you must read over the next couple of weeks; and also some of the ones that simply reinforce the thin-is-healthy message without really addressing the truth.
Remember, thin people are also diabetic, get cancer, have heart attacks, and all the other diseases that we are told are the result of being “overweight”.
Get skeptical, stay curious, get educated, maybe even feel angry, and most of all make your own decisions. Because whatever you think and feel about your body is not the media’s fault.
Think of the media like you think of a scorpion: something to be wary of. The media will make a fuss about anything and everything, that’s what they do; like a scorpion will string whatever threatens it. It is neither good nor bad, it just is what it is. That means you can choose to believe exactly what you want to believe, but if you rely on the media for your information, you will believe what they (and their advertisers) want you to believe. That is good for their wallets, not so good for your self-worth, self-esteem, or health.
At the same time work on transforming your probably-unhappy relationship with your body into one of love and appreciation, and your natural beauty and health will transform your life.
